Divine Performing Arts Eliminates Regime’s Cultural Poisoning, Says China Expert

TORONTO—Sheng Xue, a noted China expert and news commentator in Toronto, Canada, is also a fan of Divine Performing Arts—a New-York-based group bringing traditional Chinese culture to the world. Ms. Sheng has not missed a show since the performing ensemble began in 2004. She makes both the Mid-Autumn Spectacular the Chinese New Year Spectacular 'must-sees' every year
“This group will significantly influence human society,” Ms. Sheng said after watching the second annual Mid-Autumn Spectacular at the John Bassett Theatre in Toronto on September 27.
“It is eliminating the poison of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) culture that is usually found in Chinese cultural productions exported around the world.
“Anyone who grew up in mainland China couldn’t forget how pervasively the 'Communist Party culture' influenced everyday life. Today the CCP has been making great efforts to export their ideology overseas. Chinese people living abroad are still profoundly influenced by this insidious culture they absorbed in mainland China—the way they talk and think is still shaped by the CCP.
“My biggest impression of this production [by Divine Performing Arts] is that finally, there is a force able to utilize artistic expression to present the true splendor and kindness of Chinese culture to the world,” she said.
“I believe this is an important mission, and Divine Performing Arts is accomplishing it. Without their efforts, the whole world would be forced to swallow the so-called Chinese culture imbued with the CCP’s ideology.”
Chinese Communist Culture Based on Hostility
“The Chinese Communist Party culture is based on hostility,” Ms. Sheng continued. “This was very obvious in the art and literature produced in the 1960’s-1970’s, the climax of the Cultural Revolution. Even now, the hostile ideology and philosophy are often seen in the propaganda they churn out.”
“One example is how people are categorized among different classes based on their religion, lifestyle, and ability. Anyone that is good for the Chinese Communist Party will be promoted. Those who do not fit CCP standards will be confronted using literature, culture and artistic means to demonize them, while the populace is influenced to share this ideology of hatred.”
“The Communist Party culture is based on lies. In China, lies are everywhere. The CCP has been systematically destroying traditional Chinese culture, while promoting hostility, lies and fake things. Divine Performing Arts is now breathing life back into Chinese traditional culture,” she added.
Exporting Communism Overseas Through Cultural Exchanges
Ms. Sheng warns that the CCP has been employing a new tactic in recent years: exporting its ideology to the rest of the world in the form of culture, belief, religion and artistic exchange.
“The examples are too numerous to list,” she said. “The important thing to understand is that the Party culture is so subtly packaged, and delivered in such an attractive and fun way that most people accept it without even realizing it.”
She was very upset about a TV series titled A Mother in Gebi that would soon be broadcast by a local Chinese TV station in Canada. She said the title and several shots are actually set to glorify the CCP. “Such programs shouldn’t be brought into Canada, a peaceful and democratic country,” she lamented.
Comparable to Nazi Ideology
Ms. Sheng identifies parallels between the Chinese Communist Party ideology and that of Hitler’s.
“Nowadays, promotion of Hitler or Nazism is prohibited by any democratic country simply because it had been used to incite hatred to stir up racial violence. However, the crimes committed by the CCP are more than that of Nazi Germany,”she said.
When asked why the Party culture is so easily accepted by people, she referred to German history.
“Germans also created good literature, art and even had its own economic miracle during the Nazi era. But underneath it all was a one-party authoritarian rule and dictatorship that sought to realize its own interests. Of course, they have to use deception in propaganda in order to effectively promote violence and hatred,” she added.
“At this point, I feel very sorry that the CCP culture and ideology is still being promoted and delivered around the world. Human society will have to pay a great price for the acceptance of such an evil. But I believe that, one day, the world’s people will boycott the CCP ideology and culture.”’
Recommended to the Chinese Community
Thankfully, according to Ms Sheng, theater-goers looking to experience Chinese culture have a choice. She recommends that the Chinese community embrace the Divine Performing Arts Spectacular as a true picture of their cultural heritage.
“This is a very professional show that gives its audience both visual and sensual enjoyment. It delivers very positive messages that instill a feeling of calm and comfort. It’s good for anyone,” she said. “Even friends who say they don’t like dance performances were shocked by how much they liked this. They changed their minds after watching the show.”
