Owners of Gymnastics and Dance School Discover History Through Shen Yun

WORCESTER, Mass.—The premiere for Shen Yun Performing Arts in Worcester, MA, on Saturday night was packed. Among the many families that came to the show at Worcester's Hanover Theatre of Performing Arts were the Martins, a family who run a school that teaches gymnastics and dance near the area.

Mr. and Mrs. Martin came to the show with their daughter. They had heard about Shen Yun from an e-mail sent by their colleague. Mrs. Martin said, "This is our first time. We actually got an email ... on Friday. We work for a gymnastics academy in Sterling."

She added, "It was just beautifully done. Lots of color and movement. The dancers were just beautiful."

Having a background in gymnastics and dance helped the Martins appreciate the show. In fact, Mr. Martin felt he learnt something about the history of gymnastics and dance through the show. He said, "The history was important. I liked the fact that they said that most people think that gymnastics comes from gymnastics itself but in fact that it had a longstanding history in China before what we know as gymnastics, today. So I found that was interesting."

Mrs. Martin was very impressed by Shen Yun. "The costumes were exceptionally done. The colors, the movement. It was just beautiful." Mr. Martin added about the music, "The combination of the music ... I mean, combining the Western instruments as well as instruments from China. That was very good. That was a good blend. Like a variety. So, that was really good."

Their daughter agreed, "It was a very well done show. Put together well. It was good."
